2016 Suzuki SX4 S-Cross Facelift Spied Testing for the First Time

The Suzuki SX4 S-Cross has been revamped a few years ago and managed to become one of the first cars from the Japanese car maker that was used to change its image worldwide. Along with the new Vitara, they are the spearhead that should turn things around.

Between 2006 and 2013 Suzuki used the SX4 to increase its overall sales figure. A model that is mainly recognized as a compact crossover the SX4 shared a lot of its underpinnings with the Fiat Sedici, a convenient move for both manufacturers.

Less known is the fact that there was much nicer SX4 Sedan available back in the day, one that actually looked decent, unlike the current alternative that is way too tall. However, that model disappeared from the configurators back in 2010.

Getting back to the matter at hand here, it seems like Suzuki feels that the current SX4 S-Cross deserves a facelift. Our spy photographers caught a prototype of the car out testing and it seems like there are a couple of new things in store for us.

At the rear Suzuki appears to limit the changes to a different look for the taillights, but it is the front where the big changes are happening.

As our photographers say, the psychedelic wrap on the front fascia of the car resembles the one used by BMW for the X1 but the two are miles apart in terms of... everything actually. Even so, the Japanese did their best to try and mask things without creating a hazard on wheels.

So the facelifted SX4 gets a different grille with vertical instead of horizontal slats, while the bumper is also different, with new fog lights and a generally reworked design. The headlamps further deviate from the original and could surprise us when the car is unveiled. At the moment, though, we can’t tell for sure due to all those pesky covers.

According to our sources, the new model will come out next year and could bring a new 1.4-liter turbocharged mill with it. At the moment, the only petrol unit you can get for it is a 1.6-liter atmospheric engine making 120 HP.
