2016 Subaru XV Gains New Features in UK, Price Capped at £21,995

Based on a raised Impreza 5-door hatchback, the Subaru XV made its debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. Five years later, the XV got a series of upgrades for the 2016 model year. Despite the add-ons, Subaru UK didn’t change the on-the-road price over the 2015 model year of the XV.

The Japanese manufacturer’s British arm has announced that the exterior design of the XV has been mildly refreshed. The automaker refers to the redesigned front grille, bumper, and the so-called hawk-eye headlights. At the rear, the 2016 Subaru XV adds a trunk spoiler and LED lamps. Black-and-silver diamond cut aluminum wheels complete the exterior makeover.

Step inside the 2016 Subaru XV and you’ll spot a 7-inch infotainment and satellite navigation system, complete with Siri Eyes-Free voice control for iPhone users. Metallic and piano black trim here and there plus some contrasting stitching throughout round off the higher-quality cabin of the XV.

A rearview camera is offered as standard, boasting a 160-degree field of view behind the compact crossover when reversing. An extra USB port is fitted in the front of the cabin. With two ports, the first can be used for charging while the other is for your MP3-laden USB stick.

These visual and technological refinements complement the upgrades that were made in 2015, updates that include suspension modifications and a more direct steering rack. When it goes on sale in March, the revised XV will sport an on-the-road sticker price of £21,995 (approx. $31,690 at the current exchange rates). That price applies to the 2.0i SE model with the manufacturer’s legendary Symmetrical AWD system. Three other models are available: SE Lineartronic, SE Premium, and SE Premium Lineartronic.

If fuel economy is at the top of your priorities list, the Subaru XV 2.0D SE (£23,995 OTR; $34,570) is what you’re looking for. The 2.0-liter boxer diesel engine should do the trick. As it was the case before, all 2016 Subaru XV models sold in the United Kingdom are covered by a 5-year/100,000-mile Limited Warranty.
