2016 Renault Megane Specs Leaked: Base 1.2 Turbo Makes 100 HP, Diesel GT with 160 HP

While Renault revealed the all-new Megane at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015, it will be quite a while before it is available in dealerships Europe-wide. However, we have details regarding the engine range as well as all the colors that will be available.

It's only a matter of time before other websites get "inspired" by our story, so let's see if we can look at this from a personal angle like a customer would.

The basic model is the Energy TCe 100. No, it's not a tuned version of the 0.9-liter, but a de-tuned 1.2 turbo. It's actually not a bad little engine because it delivers its maximum output at 4,500rpm, 1,000rpm lower than the 130 horsepower version of the same mill. By ordering this model, you gain access to more torque (+30 Nm) and a 7-speed EDC gearbox. Performance goes up: 12.s vs 10.6s to 100 km/h. However, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions stay about the same.

According to our leaked brochure, the only other gasoline engine offered on the new Megane is the TCe 205 available only with a 7-speed EDC gearbox on the GT hot hatch.

Four diesel variants are offered, split equally between the 1.5 and 1.6 dCi. The basic unit is the familiar 90 hp unit that also has the same torque as before (220 Nm). It's followed by the 110 horsepower model that received a modest torque bump from 240 Nm to 260 Nm (250 Nm when fitted with the EDC).

Nothing has changed for the Megane 1.6 dCi. In fact, the leaked brochure suggests it's a little slower, reaching 100 km/h in 10 seconds compared to 9.8 seconds in the current model.

Care to guess how much power the Energy dCi 165 has? Nope, it's got 160 horsepower from a twin-turbo 1.6-liter engine, as well as 380 Nm of torque, 60 more than the single-turbo version. Renault hasn't finished developing this model, so we can't tell you anything about it other than the fact that it will only be available on the Megane GT with a 6-speed EDC gearbox.

The Eco2 sticker, which the French car company gives to the most frugal model in every range, belongs to the Megane Energy dCi 110 with a 6-speed manual. It's said to achieve 3.3 l/100km, equivalent to CO2 emissions of 86 grams per kilometer.

We won't have any pricing information for at least a few more months, but we can share a presentation sheet showing the 11 colors available.
