The teasing game for the 2016 Mitsu Pajero Sport was strong, but our patience has been eventually rewarded with an official set of photos and info on Mitsubishi's latest mid-size SUV.
Truth be told, we already brought you the Pajero Sport undisguised thanks to a series of pictures from Headlight Mag, but now we can see what the Pajero Sport is all about in official photos.
Mitsubishi complemented the set of pictures with info on the model, although there are still some areas that remain a mystery. For example, power for the SUV is delivered by a 2.4-liter MIVEC turbodiesel engine working together with an 8-speed automatic transmission created specifically for the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
But there's no word on the power output or other engine specs, despite the fact that in the L200 this same engine offers two outputs: 154 horsepower and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque or 181 horsepower and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque.
Of course, the rugged air was toned down a bit thanks to leather seats, silver trim and glossy black dashboard decorations, along with what looks like a touchscreen display for the infotainment system and an electric parking brake.
A fair dose of sharpness and aggressiveness was injected into the SUV's exterior shell, resulting in a menacing-looking "Dynamic Shield" grille with excessive chrome inserts flanked by the slim headlights with LED daytime running lights.
At the rear, designers glued in a bunch of features shown by the GR-HEV prototype three years ago in Geneva, including the shape of the vertical taillights.
Mitsubishi plans to sell the 2016 Pajero Sport in more than 90 countries, including Australia, Latin America and Russia, but customers from the Middle East will also be give the chance of buying one. No word on pricing yet, but that info should surface in the coming weeks.

Inside and outside
Since the Pajero Sport shares architecture with Mitsubishi's L200 / Triton pickup truck, it was only natural for the interior to share features with its utilitarian cousin.Of course, the rugged air was toned down a bit thanks to leather seats, silver trim and glossy black dashboard decorations, along with what looks like a touchscreen display for the infotainment system and an electric parking brake.
