The Mazda2 is a unique type of supermini. Despite being all new from the ground up, it still refuses to follow the industry trend and adopt a downsized 3-cylinder turbo engine. That said, there's no hot MPS version either, so the tuning industry is the go-to place for added frills.
This time it's from DAMD, a Japanese tuning company that likes to do things a little differently. In the Land of the Rising Sun, the Mazda2 has always had a name, "Demio." The DAMD Demio package looks remarkably similar to the one for the CX-3 crossover, which is excellent when you consider that the two are sister cars.

These tuners started off with the most expensive trim level, which gives the 2er access to LED headlights. But just in case the car wasn't bright enough, they also added LED strips at the bottom of the bumper.

Those common features shared between the Mazda2 and the CX-3 start off with a new chin spoiler that has a distinctive flat shape. It's added to the stock bumper and continues down the side with custom skirts that are painted black. Finally, we arrive at the tail end of the vehicle, where we see a custom aero detail painted silver and black. Even though we don't believe it will give the Mazda2 any more downforce, it looks cool enough.

That single enlarged exhaust tip is clearly going to have its work cut out because it's connected to a 1.5-liter diesel engine, the most efficient of its kind offered in Japan. The DAMD kit is not yet available to buy, but should also include new leather seat covers and custom carpets. Lowered suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels give it a race-ready look.

You can check out everything they've done in the photo gallery below. We've also taken the liberty of adding some photos of the CX-3 by DAMD that weren't available when we published our report.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
