This is the most interesting video we've seen so far of the all-new 2016 COPO Camaro. Apparently, Chevrolet's idea of "validation" is to take the beast to the drag strip, where it belongs, and do an impressive wheelie. Nothing scares the competition like being able to perform tricks right out of the box.
Forget the Vision Gran Turismo project, this is our vision of motorsport in the future. It's got the right engine and acceleration most people can't even comprehend. While the track hasn't got any curve, you can still see the driver smiling under that helmet.

Chevrolet Performance filmed its baby from just about every angle: front, back, side, inside and underside. They even took the time to mount a go-pro camera underneath to show the solid rear axle while the Camaro is doing a burnout. Mind you, there's plenty of room under there, since the exhaust system consists of about a foot of pipe coming from the engine on each side.

Speaking of which, the description of the video says this car has the 427 cubic-inch LSX. That's a 7-liter V8 to you and me. However, you can also have it with a supercharged 350 (5.7L), plus a 6.3-liter based on the LT architecture. But regardless of which engine you choose, there's a racing-grade Turbo 400 three-speed automatic transmission attached to it.

Looking at the view from the underside camera, we catch glimpses of the four-link rear suspension with adjustable coil-overs, attached stabilizer bar, aluminum shaft and lightweight racing brakes.

Try as it might to pretend that it's a sportscar, the sixth-gen Camaro is still a muscly brute at heart. However, the all-new architecture has some benefits for this COPO stock racer. Namely, it's 133 lbs (60.5 kg) lighter than the 5th generation while chassis rigidity is up by 28 percent.

She's a lovely machine, one of only 69 to be built this year.
