What our spy photographers caught this time around is not the mid-size pickup truck sensation currently sold in the US as the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. It is its EMEA region brother, marketed as the Chevrolet Colorado (or Holden Colorado in Australia and New Zealand).
What we’re dealing with today is the 2016 Chevrolet/Holden Colorado facelift. Keep in mind that the current Colorado for the EMEA market debuted in 2011 at the Bangkok Motor Show. As such, it’s natural to presume that General Motors is currently developing the mid-cycle refresh.
True to its American DNA, the 2016 Chevrolet/Holden Colorado prototype at hand is a Crew Cab sporting pilot headlamps and fog lights. Only the taillamps mirror the shape and design of the outgoing model. As for the front fascia, the bumper is on the curvaceous side while the radiator grille follows the trademark dual-port style yet it’s ampler than before.
There’s a picture in the adjacent gallery that depicts the prototype Chevy Colorado standing next to a Thailand-specification Trailblazer with a Duramax badge applied on its liftgate. Considering that both models share the GM 31xx platform, it’s safe to say that this Colorado is powered by a 2.8L Duramax diesel.
Not much else is known about the facelifted Chevrolet / Holden Colorado, but do expect the model to be offered in three body styles: Single Cab (chassis), Space Cab (chassis and pickup), as well as Crew Cab in chassis & pickup configurations. As for trim levels, the LTZ will act as the range-topping model. For more off-road prowess, the facelifted Colorado Z71 will rival the recently revealed 2015 Ford Ranger Wildtrak.
