2016 Chevrolet Camaro Accessories Presented, SS Has Intake Sound Enhancer – Photo Gallery

Five is alright, but six is better. For the sixth-generation Camaro, Chevrolet prepared some goodies for its contender in the muscle car wars. Before talking accessories, we want to highlight that the 2016 Camaro SS has an intake sound enhancer.

What, you’re telling me that the LT1 V8-powered beast resorts to such trickery for added aural drama? Yes, I do, but let’s not jump to conclusions. The first two photographs in the adjacent gallery come courtesy of ron123 of the Camaro6 forum and showcase the little scoundrel. See the white tube that’s connected to the air intake, right in front of the LT1 blunderbuss?

That’s it! Described by a GM technician as a sound enhancer for the interior, the label says it all. Compared to artificially generated engine sounds (we’re looking at you, BMW), the 2016 Camaro SS system pipes noise directly to the cabin through the firewall. To boot, it’s designed to pull air out of the cabin when the windows are closed, helping with interior ventilation. And yes, the air goes directly into the small-block V8 for suck-squeeze-bang-blow action.

While we’re on the subject of SS goodies, some of you will be disappointed to hear that Chevy will not delete the spoiler on the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS. It so happens that this element is integral to the airflow. Seems like deleting it negatively affects handling. GM officials present at the Camarofest made it clear that a drop kit will be offered for the 2016 Camaro, but they didn’t go into the fine details. If it were our money, we’d bet them on a drop kit that’ll lower the Camaro LT and SS by 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch.

And now for the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro accessories! First of all, take a look at photograph three and laugh at a certain someone from GM who doesn’t know how to spell aluminum. The photo, uploaded by AceofSpades6 on Camaro6, depicts a representation of the optional illuminated door sill plate. The following photographs are even better, as they showcase how the illuminated bowtie emblem and black bowtie emblem kit look like. Pricing on these must-have accessories isn’t available. Yet...

Then there’s a selection of stripes and body side decals for the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, followed by a red accented engine cover for the V6-powered model and the “Darken Tail Lamp” option. The latter is just what the doctor ordered, especially if you plan on getting a silver- or black-painted Camaro.
