2016 Camaro SS vs. C7 Corvette Stingray Head-to-Head Dyno Comparison

Well, here we are, looking at a 2016 Camaro SS going up against a C7 'Vette, with the cars being tested on the same day, using the same dyno and having been fed the same fuel.

The comparo comes from Utah-based aftermarket developer JDPMotorsports, which made sure the slabs of GM came with a similar mileage, which happened to be close to zero.

We're talking about manual vehicles here, but let's not forget that, while the 'Vette may have lent its LT1 to the Camaro, the sportscar uses a seven-speed gearbox while the pony machine comes with a six-speed tranny.

The testing procedure is obviously just as important as the details mentioned above, so here's the tuner describing the way the cars were put through their paces on the rolling road: "Both cars made 3 pulls, were allowed to cool and then ran a 4th pull. Both cars best run was the 4th pull, ironically. Looks like Little Brother gets the bragging rights on power output!"

If you want to talk numbers, we'll mention the Camaro proved marginally superior, delivering an extra 4 hp 8 lb-ft (Nm) at the rear wheels. You'll be able to see the dyno charts in the video below, with the values being SAE corrected.

Buzz-generating moves aside, the microscopic output difference mentioned above only proves we are dealing with two LT1 motors. Oh, and let's not forget the Camaro has to pay for its rear seats, since it's almost 300 lbs (135 kg) heavier than a Corvette.
