It's nearly impossible for us to watch the drag race we're discussing here without imagining German car fans having the kind of uber-agitated reactions that showed up when the country's national football team lost to France this summer in the EURO 2016 semi-final.
After all, both the 2017 Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe and the 2017 Audi S5 Coupe got their chiseled posteriors kicked by the sixth-gen Camaro SS on their home turf.

And while we obviously know we're not supposed to throw such spoilers at you, we have a bit of an excuse - for anybody who's keeping close track of performance numbers these days, the result was rather predictable.

On the other hand, if you don't usually follow this kind of adventures, you could expect the two "warm" V6 coupes to stand a fair chance against the V8 machine in the quarter-mile run.

Don't get us wrong, though, this isn't a story aimed at glorifying the Camaro. For one thing, the all-wheel-drive that gave the C43 and the S5 their take-off advantage also makes them much better all-rounders.

Then there's the interior fit and finish, an area where the Chevy doesn't even play in the same league as the other two coups shown here.

However, before anybody points out that Audi is working on an RS5 and Mercedes-AMG has already gifted us with the manic C63 Coupe, we have to remind you that the muscle car's asset for fighting the Germans means the SS is already a hot hatch (think: Abarth 595) cheaper than the V6 coupes in this adventure - we're talking about the Old Continent pricing of the three coupes, which you'll find in the video.

As for how things go in the handling department, gift the Camaro SS with the 1LE track package and it could beat an Audi R8 V10 Plus around a track.
