2016 BMW M4 GTS Spied for the First Time

Not too long ago we were revealing, in exclusivity, that BMW is working on a GTS version of the M4. Back then, our source was telling us that it just entered development and that we are still pretty far off from it hitting the road. Our recent spyshots seem to contradict that story, though.

Our photographers just caught a very interesting M4 testing on German roads. What instantly caught their attention was the camouflage applied on the front bumper and the huge wing round the back.

At first, you might not give it a second glance but it looks like there are some serious changes planned under that psychedelic camo. The front bumper received an additional lip for better aerodynamics while the wing at the back is on a whole new level. Not even the safety car for the MotoGP championship doesn’t sport that level of aerodynamic precision.

We were also lucky enough to catch the car with the driver’s window open and we were able to make out the Recaro seats installed inside. It’s all too familiar already right?

Just as a quick reminder, the BMW E92 M3 GTS featured the same added parts compared to the regular car. It too had a wing at the back, Recaro seats and a couple more aerodynamic tweaks. What’s more, the rear seats were removed to make the car lighter. Unfortunately, this car doesn’t seem to be taking the same approach, the rear seats apparently being intact in the back.

Even so, there are plenty of clues hidden under that camouflage that got us thinking. It looks like BMW is hurrying up to release its M4 GTS and we can’t be anything but excited to see what they come up with.

Maybe it will even be lighter than the standard model with a bored engine that makes more power. That would be a fanboy’s wet dream come true!
