Just one week after revealing the new 2016 A4, Audi announces their rival for the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes C-Class will include an optional Bang & Olufsen 3D Sound System. Sounds good (pun intended), doesn't it?
Available for both the A4 Sedan and the A4 Avant variants as optional equipment, the Bang & Olufsen 3D Sound System comes with 19 speakers each hosted withing a grille integrated with the A4's cabin design, next to the 12.3-inch digital dash and simplified controls.

Also, there's a 16-channel Class D amplifier that delivers 755 watts of "clear, crisp" 5.1 surround sound. To back that up, the system uses the Vehicle Noise Compensation (VNC) technology in the amplifier to adjust timbre and volume based on input from internal and external onboard sensors and microphones.

Tweeters for 2D and 3D sound reproduction are installed in the A-pillars, the front doors receive midrange grilles and woofer grilles with the Bang & Olufsen Dynamic Lines design, the same as for the rear doors.

As you probably know, Harman bought Bang & Olufsen earlier this year (in May, to be more precise). The new A4 in both saloon and wagon guises is lighter than its predecessor but in terms of design, the Ingolstadt-based carmaker changed fewer things than fans and potential buyers might have wanted to.

At launch, the A4 will be available with two petrol engines - one 1.4-liter TFSI and a 2.0-liter TFSI - and two diesel units - one 2.0-liter TDI mill and a range-topping 3.0-lited TDI powerplant. Power outputs vary from 150 HP to 272 HP while production is expected to start somewhere around the fall of 2015.
