Yamaha is expanding its line-up with another addition to its middleweight roster, in the shape of the MT-07 Moto Cage, a bike which is inspired from the guise of stunt-prepped motorcycles. Not exactly the kind of bike to throw to the ground multiple times a day, every day, the MT-07 Moto Cage is however better equipped for tight situations and can handle a rough treatment.
On the hardware side, the MT-07 Moto Cage arrives with an extra chassis piece, in the shape of a stunt-derived tubular cage wrapped around the mid-ship section, adding extra protection for when the going gets tough. Radiator and knuckle guards and a small bash plate are also part of the stock trim.

Aesthetically, this bike boasts a more radical approach which is consistent with the story around it. While matte gray is the only graphics option available, it doesn’t lack sparkle and a massive head-turning factor. The matte colors are complemented by glossy bright red accents. The two 10-spoke cast wheels are even finished in different colors, black in the rear and red in the front, with the red trim extending to the knuckle guards, radiator and belly protectors, adjustable fly screen and tail section.

Yamaha’s new parallel twin is the heart of the 2015 MT-07 Moto Cage, its 689cc being capable to produce 74.8 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 68 Nm (50.1 lb-ft) of torque at 6,500 revs. The injected mill s mated to a manual 6-speed transmission with the usual chain final drive. The front suspension has a 130mm (5.1”) travel, the same with the link type monoshock in the rear. The dual 282mm rotors in the front are complemented by a 245mm single in the rear section.

The 2015 MT-07 Moto Cage arrives with optional ABS and Akrapovic exhaust, an 805mm (31.7”) seat height, 140mm (5.5”) ground clearance, a 14-liter (3.7 US gal) tank and a killer price of only €6,690 ($8,480), €1,000 ($1,270) more than what the base version can be taken home for.
