2015 VW Golf Commercial: Girlfriend Coming Over for Dinner

Volkswagen has tried all sorts of things to sell more cars in America, including super bowl commercials and starting its own rallycross team. However, the all-new Golf is finally here, and it's the sort of car that can pretty much sell itself because of the build quality and features.

The car company knows you compact buyers don't want a hatchback and would get a mid-size sedan if the money stretches that far. However, consider this: with the rear seats folded flat, the 2015 Golf can swallow 22.8 cubic feet of stuff, better than basically anything that's not a minivan. You can also get it as a wagon.

Why would you possibly need that much space in a normal car? Because the dream girlfriend is coming over to your place tonight for dinner and your bachelor pad needs a serious upgrade. This funny 30-second ad is one of the first we've seen featuring the 2014 Golf. It was shot in New York and features Jocelin Donahue from "House of the Devil" playing the girlfriend and Jeff Blum as the guy. You might know him from ChickleBerry Jam, Spare Change and DisOrientation.

The all-new Golf hatch is now made in Mexico and retails nationwide for $18,000, not including the $820. Standard kit includes air conditioning, power windows / locks, Bluetooth connectivity and an infotainment system with a 5.8-inch touchscreen display all being standard. We suggest moving up to a higher trim model that gets a 7-inch screen which is easier to read. The sweet spot in the range is probably the $19,000 Golf S, which add leather seats, a leather steering wheel and 16-inch alloys. Another $1,100 will get you the DSG six-speed auto option.
