We preferred to wait for several more hours so we could deliver more than some small, crappy photos of the new naked Suzuki machine. And by all means, the wait was well worth, since we can now offer you a rich high-resolution photo gallery of the upcoming new GSX-S1000 beast.
Renderings and speculations have surfaced on the internet months ago, and the bikes artists and designers imagined looked pretty good… only to be smashed by how cool the actual shape of the GSX-S1000 is. Like most have expected, Suzuki used the 4 in-line engine of the GSX-R1000 superbike, with the 999cc mill capable of producing a peak power of 182 hp, which should be anyway more than enough for 99% of the riders who will swing a leg over this beast. In case the engine performance was not meddled with for better torque in the lower rpm range, we’re expecting the new Suzuki to be quite a savage machine!
The fairing has gone for good, save for two very aggressive prongs at each side of the radiator, which also enhance the aggressive looks of the bike quite a lot. The headlight got a new housing and it replicates the generic shape of those fairing elements for a consistent look. We totally dig the cool way the side panels align with the lines of the front fender, as well. Suzuki was clearly very careful when designing their BMW S1000R and Kawasaki Z1000 rival…
Suzuki’s former big-bore naked machine, the B-King performed really poor in the sales department, and was dropped a couple of years ago, leaving this segment empty, and kind of offering an unexpected advantage to the competition, but it looks like the Intermot or EICMA will bring a noticeable change to the market.
Finally, we’re thrilled to see that Suzuki is aiming the new naked beast to the sporty segment, as well. That is, the very name of the bike is a great hint: instead of going for the GSR moniker, the house of Hamamatsu went for the iconic GSX badge. More details as the fall shows draw nearer, so stay tuned.
