Skoda has dropped a total of four new teaser photos of the all-new Superb flagship saloon, which will debut next week. On February 17th, the vail will be pulled off this Czech wonder at a private event held in Prague, but we have plenty to be excited about already.
For starters we have a very clear photo of the headlights. They take a completely different approach to what Audi or VW are doing. Instead of placing clusters of LED right at the front in a geometrical pattern, they added the projector lens at the back which lights up several clear elements designed in a triangular shape.
Skoda says the distinctive look was "modeled after the Bohemian tradition of glass art" and we can't argue with that idea, since it does look like a crystal glass.
A photo of the grille has also been shared and this time Skoda wants us to understand everything is of higher quality than on the Superb. Every vertical bar has a chrome trim piece and you simply don't get that feeling that it's made from recycled plastic.
And finally, a bird's eye view of the 2015 Superb suggests the awkward hump this sedan had at the back is gone, replaced with a coupe-life flow towards the boot. The Skoda flagship is not as bold as a Ford Mondeo and not as understated as a Passat, which is good.
"The new Skoda Superb inspires with clear geometry, striking contoured surfaces, sculptural shapes and elegant lines from the front to the rear. ‘A fine finish right down to the smallest detail’ was the motto for the development of the new top model – precise, sophisticated and striking as never before," the automaker adds.
Fresh information about total Superb sales suggests this may be a more popular car than we give it credit for, as 700,000 units have been shifted from 2001 until the end of January 2015. That makes this about as popular as the Opel Insignia.
