Ahead of an imminent debut, Skoda has started showing bits of the all-new Superb liftback sedan, beginning with a couple of shots of the interior. Being based on a larger version of the MQB platform, the flagship has more than a passing resemblance with the all-new Passat B8.
Skoda's press photos have never been as crisp as those from Audi or VW, at least not these digitally mastered ones. So don't be alarmed if the steering wheel and the dash look like crappy pieces of plastic – it was the same with the Fabia and the car turned out great. But what should you know about the car?

For starters, the slight cascading effect of the dash and the whole navigation screen is the same Discover Pro 8-inch nav-radio. Below that, we have a chunky aluminum gear stick for the DSG gearbox, similar to the one in the Octavia, encircled by an array of buttons for parking sensors, the auto stop-start and the handbrake.

Unfortunately, the Skoda Superb may not get the impressive 12.3-inch digital speedometer that the Passat received. Even though it costs over €1,000, we think it's a shame for a flagship to miss out on such tech.

It definitely feels like Skoda hasn't been allowed to borrow all the best features from its richer sister brands. Even though this is supposed to be the most amazing Skoda ever made, it lacks features that a MINI Cooper S has, like a head-up display and mood lighting.

And why is it brown? It's because this car is in the Laurin & Klement trim level, the highest available one which pays tribute to the company's founders.

Look for the all-new Superb to debut this month and be officially presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Reports suggest it will be 75 kilograms, thanks to the implementation of the MQB platform. The wheelbase will be stretched by a massive 80 mm to 2.84 meters, resulting in more legroom. A total 8 different 4-cylinder turbocharged engines will eventually be available, ranging from about 120 hp to 280 hp.
