2015 Opel Corsa Rocks Rendering

A couple of days ago, Opel and its sister brand from Britain unveiled their new Corsa family of superminis. They look very similar to the older Corsa models and are based on the same platform, but a host of engineering changes improve everything from handling to internet connectivity.

However, this reveal could be just the beginning of a new Corsa family of small and practical cars. The hot OPC performance version of the car will debut next year, packing 200 hp. A soft-roading version might also be made and we can give you a rough idea of what it could look like, thanks to this rendering by Hungarian X-Tomi Design.

He based his "Corsa Rocks" on the design of the Adam Rocks, a smaller car with rugged appearance from Opel. The idea of both is to combine posh urban looks and the slightly raised ride that could help you cope with a weekend getaway in the mountains or at the beach. Extra underbody protection, increased suspension by about 15mm and black plastic wheel arch extension are all there for these adventurous purposes.

Opel already offers a subcompact crossover based on the Corsa platform. It's called the Mokka and shared its development with the Buick Encore sold in America. However, the Mokka is too big to be considered a city vehicle.

It's definitely a good idea for Opel to offer such a car, especially since development would be cheap and VW has already proven the idea works with its Polo Cross model.
