2015 Opel Astra K Rendered Yet Again

Marketed as either the Opel or Vauxhall Astra, General Motors Europe’s weapon in the C-segment is about to receive an all-new generation next year. The Delta II-underpinned Astra J is 5 years old now, while platform brother Chevrolet Cruze is made since 2008.

It’s needless to point out the Delta II is getting a bit gray-haired, but fret not, because China already saw the launch of the second-generation Cruze, which boasts with the new GM D2XX car platform.

The next-gen Buick Verano sedan (2016 model year) and 2015 Opel / Vauxhall Astra K will follow suit

When? Sometime in 2015 for both nameplates according to recent reports and insider info. In a previous article, we pointed out that Ellesmere Port plant in Great Britain will gear up to manufacture the Astra K “later in 2015.”

Based on that bit of info, it’s safe to assume Russelsheim will also build the new model later in 2015.

Our spy photographers spotted prototypes of the Astra K testing in Germany numerous times, while Photoshop manipulators all over the world tried to digitally imagine how the actual car will look like, but Remco Meulendijk seems to be the closest to the real deal with the renderings posted on his blog.

Just like the current-gen Astra, the 2015 Opel Astra K will be available as a five and three-door hatchback, a sedan (to be rebadged as the Buick Verano in the US) and even a 280 horsepower OPC variant.

We’re not sure if the all-new 1-liter EcoTec turbo three-cylinder with 115 ponies and 170 Nm (125 lb-ft) will be available as well, but there’s a lot of four-pot turbo petrols and turbo diesels to look forward to.
