2015 Nissan Versa Sedan Could Be the Worst Facelift Ever

This is the 2015 Nissan Versa Sedan, revealed ahead of its not-so-major auto show debut in New York next week. It’s just a facelift for the existing model launched a few years back and we honestly don’t understand why they made the changes their did. People  say looks are subjective and that’s usually the case, but we struggle to think of anybody who’d say this is a good looking car. Sorry Nissan!

There are a number of little cosmetic changes, but the really big ones you’ll notice are the large headlights, which look as though they were designed by the Chinese, the standard chrome grille and the updated center stack taken from the Versa Note hatchback.

You could say that the only good thing about the Versa is that it’s cheap… really cheap. The basic model going on sale in the US this year will cost $11,990. The only engine you can have with the Nissan continues to be a 4-cylinder, 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated unit with 109-hp and 107 lb-ft (145 Nm). Even those numbers are not readily available, since the power is only available at 6,000rpm.

If you want an automatic, the basic S trim level gets a 4-speed while the SV and SL get an Xtronic CVT. Pick your poison!

Obviously, the CVT is better for high mileage and it gets 31 mpg city, 40 mpg highway and 35 mpg combined. Basic 5-speed manual models are also decent with a claimed 27/36/30 score respectively.
