2015 ML 63 AMG W166 Facelift Spied For The First Time

Last week we showed you the first ever interior image with the Mercedes-Benz M-Class W166 facelift, a model which has been spied for quite a decent amount of times in the past few months, not even its Porsche Cayenne-inspired interior being a mystery any longer.

Neither of the pre-production prototypes caught until now have been of the AMG variety though, making the adjacent images world firsts from this point of view.

They are not only premieres, but the oddity is a bit on the strong side with them if you look closely. Unlike previous non-AMG prototype photos we've shared, these ones show a Mercedes-Benz M-Class that is not sporting the new front end.

It could be an early prototype that hasn't been photographed until now, because it's pretty obvious that both the ML 63 AMG and the regular M-Class W166 will share similar design updates when it comes to the headlights, among other exterior parts.

Engine wise, the facelifted Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG W166 is expected to receive an updated engine, with its least powerful version to offer 557 hp and 720 Nm (531 lb ft) of torque, or the exact numbers that the current model with Performance Package delivers.

Just like on the E 63 AMG and the SL 63 AMG, the Performance Package will no longer be available, with an S-Model variant to take its place. In other words, next year will also bring us an ML 63 AMG S-Model, which should develop 585 hp and 800 Nm (590 lb ft) of torque, making it the most powerful production SUV in its segment.
