Early next year, the Japanese manufacturer’s fourth generation 2 is going to arrive on the Old Continent and boy you’ll love what the little bugger is packing. Compared to the third-gen (DE) Mazda2, a model that shared some of its underpinning with the Ford Fiesta, the fourth-gen (DJ) is miles better in every aspect.
A model classified as a B-segment supermini may be better suited with one of the available 1.5-liter petrol powerplants, churning out 75, 90 or 115 horsepower.

But some drivers travel more than 10,000 kilometers per year, especially out of town. To suit their needs, the carmaker also offers a 105 hp 1.5-liter oil burner.

Aided by variable geometry turbocharging technology, the 1.5 SkyActiv-D diesel is mated only to a six-speed manual and meets EU6 emission standards thanks to just 89 grams of CO2 produced per km.

The 2015 Mazda2 diesel isn’t just cheap to tax, but it’s also frugal thanks to the 3.8 l/100 km (74 UK mpg) fuel consumption the all-new 2 is rated in city driving. An i-Eloop start&stop fuel saving system comes as standard on this model to cut down on wasted fuel during the rush hour traffic.

In total, there are 12 petrol and 4 diesel variants of the all-new 2015 Mazda2 depending on which specification and transmission you settle for. Although it comes with many gizmos and features as standard, the entry-level Mazda2 SE 1.5 SkyActiv-G 1.5 75 hp costs £11,995, which is pretty good value.

The grade structure also includes SE-L, SE-L Nav, Sport and Sport Nav trim levels. Last but not least, the range-topping Mazda2 Sport Nav 1.5 SkyActiv-D 1.5 105 hp will set you back a not so bad £17,395.
