There’s no surprise Jaguar is currently developing the replacement for the X250-gen XF. The model that killed off the awful S-Type is in production since 2007. Because 2015 is right around the corner, the current XF will be a whopping 8 years old by the time the new one arrives.
In dog years that amounts to 45 years. In all frankness, the outgoing Jaguar XF isn’t that bad of a car. Aimed to bite the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class premium trio, this leaping cat is the oldest and least technologically advanced of the lot. Still, it has some good points as well.
You can have it with an extensive range of four-pot, V6 and V8 powerplants, ranging from the basic 163 horsepower 2.2 turbo diesel all the way to the 5-liter supercharged vee eight XFR-S uber sedan. To boot, all of them are coupled to a ZF transmission boasting with 8 speeds and you can opt for all-wheel drive and a family-oriented Sportbrake station wagon.
Compared to the 2014 Jaguar XF, this test mule right here is wearing a more chiseled body, with the rear fascia looking a bit square-ish to give an overall impression or greater track width. We’re not too sure about the two exhaust exists, but everything else does look 90 percent ready for production.
If the Ingenium four-pot turbo petrol and diesel engines will also be adopted, then bring it on, Jaguar!

The gray-haired X250 will soon be phased out of production, but what about its successor?
Well, the second largest Jag after the all-new XE will be renewed in April, 2015, at the New York Auto Show.
