Automotive aficionado petitions seems to be gaining more and more popularity, with the latest one seeing Civic Type R fans asking Honda to bring the 2015 model stateside.
To be more precise, the petition is called “Bring the 2015 Honda Civic Type-R VTEC Turbo to North America” and can be found on Change.org. The initiative debuted on November 29 last year, but it has started to gain momentum only recently. This makes full sense, since the Civic Type R’s Geneva debut drew quite a lot of attention to the hot hatch.

The biggest change brought by the 2015 Civic is the switch to turbocharging, with its 2.0-liter VTEC turbo unit delivering 275 hp.

There was one part of the petition that drew our attention in particular: “When Honda founder said that, he meant it. Do not once again do what's right for Acura brand, do what's right for the people that believe in the foundation Honda was built upon.”

Honda spokesman Chris Martin was sent the petition when this hit 4,000 signatures. At the moment when this article was written fans have more than doubled that number, with the petition reaching 9,000 signatures. Martin responded by explaining their initiative is welcomed and that Honda would take all this support into consideration. Of course, the added that no decision can be announced at the time being.

We’ll remind that Audi brought to TT-RS into American dealerships following a similar petition, so there are chances for the Civic Type R to travel across the pond. You can contribute with your own signature here.
