2015 Harley-Davidson 883 Iron Surfaces

Welcome the 2015 Harley-Davidson 88e Iron, a stripped-down, minimalist Sportster for those who like the classic approach to an everyday bike with plenty of traditional styling and a full-on H-D character. At the heart of the new 883 Iron we’ll find the classic Evolution engine, now dressed in an elegant powder-coated black livery and beautiful chrome accents on the pushrods and collectors.

Nothing new on the tech side for the usual power plant: air cooling, Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI), 70Nm (51.6 lb-ft) of torque at 3,750 revs, with a 5-speed manual gearbox and belt final drive.

The 883 Iron is all about a different styling than what the basic Sportster brings forth. For starters we should mention the low-profile black bullet tail lights which have a triple function: running light, stop light and turn signals, keeping the rear fender free and looking slender. The forks, frame and bars are also black, adding to the overall mean, rebel attire, and again, Harley preferred to use chrome rear shocks, on a dark bike, for a rather unknown reason.

883 Iron arrives with an intermediate seat that’s 735mm (28.9”) above the ground and which should provide even shorter riders with a good foothold when stopped. The line of the seat is neatly integrated with the flow of the peanut tank and the drag-style bars offer a somewhat aggressive riding position which makes us want that the bike was brawnier.

Add in ABS as standard, Hard Candy Custom paint options and a bevy of custom shop parts and accessories to help turn this bare-necessities bike into a true street brawler full of nerve. Price is to be announced later.
