Ford Motor Co. has confirmed that the V6 version of redesigned 2015 Mustang will be confined to the US market, although the model might make it to “some minor export markets”.
Speaking to autoevolution at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show yesterday, Mustang chief engineer Dave Pericak said that the sixth-generation pony will arrive in Europe and Asia with just two engine choices, which will include the brand new 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder and the 5.0-liter V8.
“Yes, the V6 will stay in the US, except for some minor export markets. Generically, when we export to Europe and the other countries, it will be the 2.3-liter EcoBoost and the 5-liter V8,” Pericak told us during an interview at the Cobo Center.
Pericak didn’t say what “minor markets” will be getting the V6 Stang, but the base model will probably make it to other countries across the American continent.
