As we're getting closer to 2014, when the next-generation Ford Mustang is expected to be revealed, more and more rumors about the Blue Oval's next musclecar seem to surface the web. With the clay prototype models leaked about two months ago, now we have stumbled upon new powertrain information.
According to a member of a popular Mustang forum, quoting a Ford employee, the company is planning to offer a three engine lineup. As we already reported, the 2015 Mustang will indeed get a four-cylinder engine, but our source claims it won't be a 2.3-liter, but 2.5-liter EcoBoost with 300 HP. The other powerplants will be a 3.7-liter six-cylinder with more than 305 HP and the already classic 5.0-liter V8 Coyote, rated at over 475 HP, about 50 HP more than the current mill.
The so-called company insider also said the new Mustang will look very European, but that's not a huge surprise really, with the Evos Concept used as inspiration.
Since Ford seems far from spilling the beans on the new Mustang, we would advise that you take this rumor with a grain a salt. We'll be right back on the subject as soon as new informations become available.
