The Ford Fusion is arguably one of the best-looking cars positioned in the jam-packed mid-size sedan segment, but Ford knows that it can’t get by on looks alone. Ford has announced a handful of minor updates being made to the 2015 Ford Fusion, but the most notable is probably the fact that the popular sedan will be losing its available manual transmission.
Previously, a six-speed manual gearbox was standard equipment on Fusion models with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, but when the slightly smaller 1.5-liter EcoBoost was introduced last year, it instantly made the 1.6L redundant. For 2015, the 1.6L EcoBoost has been dropped, and along with it goes the only way you could shift your own gears in a Ford Fusion. Although the 1.6L engine did edge out the 1.5L in terms of fuel economy, the optional start/stop technology on the smaller EcoBoost engine eliminates any disadvantage.

What the 2015 Ford Fusion is losing in this drivetrain configuration, it is making up for in added content. For starters, all 2015 Fusions now come standard with a backup camera, and the base Fusion S upgrades from steel wheels with hubcaps to 16-inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels. All models also get a new configurable daytime running light system, and four new colors join the palette: Bronze Fire Tinted Clearcoat Metallic (a dark orange-red), Guard (dark green), Magnetic (dark grey) and Tectonic Silver.

In SE trim, the 2015 Ford Fusion adds new features like a standard six-way power passenger seat (upgraded to a 10-way seat for the Titanium trim level), and the SE trim can now be optioned with all-wheel drive with the Appearance and Luxury packages. A new Terracotta Interior Package brings burgundy leather seats, premium floor mats and 18-inch wheels, which will be a $795 option on Fusion SE and Titanium and $495 option on Fusion Hybrid in SE and Titanium (Hybrid models don’t get the upgraded wheels).

As for the 2015 Ford Fusion pricing, most of the MSRPs carry over with the exception of a few models. The base 2015 Fusion S gets a price increase of $270 up to $22,240, the base 2015 Fusion Hybrid S gets a price hike of $205 to $26,475 and the 2015 Fusion Hybrid Titanium gets a price decrease of $430 to $32,170.
