2015 Ford Falcon Ute Spotted Without Camouflage

Slated to be officially revealed in Australia and New Zealand at the end of the current year, the 2015 Ford Falcon Ute has been spotted in a parking lot without any camo whatsoever. Compared to the Falcon Ute Mk II, the updated model has a little bit of Ford Fusion and 2015 model year Falcon visuals to it.

The Ute caught on film by a bloke who sent the picture to CarAdvice seems to be a basic model. Check out the black door mirror caps, steel wheels and the front grille that doesn't benefit from the Aston Martin-like horizontal chrome bars. This car doesn't even get fog lights, so it's definitely an entry-level model. The overall look hints that this is the 2015 Ford Falcon Ute in Styleside Box flavor.

If you put the workhorse next to the recently unveiled 2015 Ford Falcon XR8 sedan, you can tell that the design of the front fascia is pretty similar between the two. While the headlight clusters of the Ute don't feature the double J-shaped LED daytime running lights of the XR8, the basic horizontal strips of LEDs are similar to the headlights fitted to the entry-level Falcon sedan. What about mechanicals?

There's nothing officially confirmed about the oily bits yet, but we have a hunch that engine and transmission options will be carried over from the Mk II. That means you'll get the same 4-liter straight-six as before coupled to a six-speed transmission. More demanding buyers can go for the XR6 Turbo model, while the ZF six-speed automatic tranny will most likely be available as an optional feature.

Those customers that need that extra bit of fuel economy will have the possibility to opt for the EcoLPi (dedicated LPG) variant of the 4-liter inline six-cylinder. We expect that the most expensive model of the lot - the 2015 Falcon XR6 Ute - will hold an estimated drive away price of at least AUD $30,500.
