Even though mass production is slated to start this summer after the Blue Oval's Dearborn plant will undergo a thorough retooling process, the production ready 2015 Ford F-150 has already been spotted on Sunday in suburban Detroit.
From the looks of it, the carparazzi spotted a Super Crew version of the all-new pickup truck bearing the Blue Oval badge. On the aesthetics front, the vehicle sports exterior paint pretty similar to the Sterling Gray hue available on the outgoing Ford Mustang.

A blacked out three-piece radiator grille with active grille shutters, smoked rear windows and titanium gray alloy wheels wrapped in summer tires complete the exterior looks of the F-150 spotted by Automotive News' Richard Truett. After Ford admitted it had tested six 2015 F-150 prototypes disguied as the outgoing model in real-world working conditions for three years now, it seems like the manufacturer is fast-forwarding the final testing cycle before the pickup arrives in showrooms later this year.

For those of you heavily anticipating Ford's next-generation F-Series, we remind you that it sits on an exceptionally strong high-strength steel frame, while the body shell and cargo box are made out of a special military-grade aluminum alloy. According to the Detroit carmaker, this revolutionary new platform will lower the overall weight of the pickup by up to 700 pounds (317 kilograms) compared to the outgoing model. That's almost a third of the base curb weight of the 2014 Chevrolet Spark LS Manual city-dweller, so expect massive improvements in terms of handling and towing capacity.

Customers of the 2015 Ford F-150 will be able to opt for a segment-first remote tailgate which can be lowered by simply pushing a button on the key fob. The tailgate step has been fully integrated into the tailgate as well, while a BoxLink cargo management system comes with all sorts of goodies, chief among which are the integrated cargo ramps that can be mounted on the tailgate for easy loading of ATVs, motorbikes, you name it.

As for the engine lineup, Ford recently added 300 jobs at its Lima Engine Plant in Ohio in order to produce the brand spanking new 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost turbocharged mill. The smallest engine of the range will be joined by another EcoBoost unit - the 3.5-liter V6. However, if you're a fan of naturally aspirated mills, the 2015 Ford F-150 can also be kitted with reworked versions of the NA 3.5-liter V6 and 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8.
