Who said “13” has a bad reputation? If you ask Ford, this has to be one of the best numbers in the world, since the thirteen-generation Ford F-150 is one serious piece of machinery. It didn’t take long for us to come to this conclusion in our review and, in the process of testing the truck, we took the time to shoot some images that are now out of the oven and ready to serve as your HD wallpapers.
Take a good look... under this badge. This is where the top asset of of the 2015 F-150 lies, namely the aluminum. The material allow Blue Oval engineers to shed a massive 700 lbs (318 kg) from the kurb weight of the pickup truck. Thus, the 2015 F-150 tips the scales at between 4,050 lbs (1,837 kg) and 4,900 lbs (2,222 kg), depending on the model.
An offroroading session was a delight and, once again, we have to thank the aluminum construction. The new design has allowed Ford to use better packaging and, among other benefits, this means the ground clearance goes up by almost one inch to about 9.1 inches (230 mm).
The combination between the lightweight body of the F-150 and its high-strength steel frame bring a surprisingly good result when it comes to the ride. The lower weight means everything behind the scenes was downsized, so, for instance, unsprung mass was reduced.
One of the models we tested was the King Ranch SuperCrew 4x4. Even without climbing to the range-topping engine (it used the 3.5-liter EcoBoost), the thing costs $61,275. Which brings us the the greatest downside of the new F-150, its pricing.
People will remember these headlights, we guarantee it. Speaking of lighting, the 2015 model has LED written all over it. From the headlights and taillights to the side mirrors or cargo box, this is one energy saver. As for the more brutish sides of this Ford, you can explore them in the Full HD photo gallery of our 2015 Ford F-150 review.
