2015 Dodge Viper SRT Now Rated at 645 HP

With the liberal amount of power being crammed under the hood of the 2015 Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger, it only made sense for the halo Viper to be getting some more power, too. While that is the case for the 2015 Dodge Viper, a small power increase is just the beginning of the updates made as the car switches from the SRT to the Dodge brand.

Joining the 2015 Dodge Viper SRT, a new GT model slots in between the base Viper and the Viper GTS. Like its name suggests, Dodge created the Viper GT to be a grand touring car using the driver-selectable suspension of the Viper GTS with a stylish and luxurious interior wrapped in a combination of Alcantara and Nappa leather in black, Sepia or Demonic Red hues.

Back for round two to terrorize road courses and Corvettes alike, the 2015 Dodge Viper SRT TA 2.0 Special Edition adds even more racing goodies to improve track domination. This includes a aero package that improves downforce by almost 150 percent at 150 mph. Upgraded brakes, tires and suspensions components make the TA 2.0 a true corner carver. The TA 2.0 Special Edition comes in Competition Blue, Yorange or Venom Black with Dodge limiting production of each color to just 32 units.

Another new limited edition model is the Viper Ceramic Blue Edition Package, of which Dodge is only building 40 units. This car comes painted in an exclusive Ceramic Blue paint with black racing stripes and black chrome five-spoke wheels. The interior is fancier as well with numerous components in Alcantara or carbon fiber, and each unit will have a serialized production number displayed on the instrument panel. In addition to this limited color, the color palette of the 2015 Viper has been expanded further to include new hues called Stryker Purple and Yorange.

Regardless of which trim level customers choose, every 2015 Dodge Viper SRT is powered by the 8.4-liter V-10 pumping out 645 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque. The minimal 5 hp gain is probably not noticeable, but the revised transmission gearing helps the Viper break into the 20 mpg range in highway driving. Pretty impressive for a car that can go 206 mph.

No word on pricing for the 2015 Dodge Viper lineup, but it will be interesting to see if Dodge lowers the base price a little with the addition of the new GT.
