As it was expected, the upcoming fifth member of the Mercedes-Benz MFA (Modular Front Architecture) platform will also receive a bonkers AMG version.
We are of course talking about the CLA Shooting Brake (X117), which according to the adjacent spy photos will also get a 45 AMG variant.
Mercedes-Benz won't call it this way, but think of it as the sexy station wagon version of the sexy CLA, while in AMG guise is a very fast station wagon version of the CLA.
Fitted with the same turbocharged two-liter engine from the A 45, CLA 45 and the GLA 45 AMG, the upcoming model will essentially provide the same neck-breaking acceleration figures as two of the aforementioned models, but a 0.1 seconds slower naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) isn't entirely out of the question.
We say this because the CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake will probably weigh a bit more than the “regular” CLA 45 AMG, which itself is slightly heavier than the A 45 AMG.
The M133 powerhouse is, as you know, a two-liter four-cylinder with a twin-scroll turbocharger, outputting no less than 360 hp and 450 Nm (332 lb ft) of torque.
Paired with 4Matic all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with a launch control option it should make the CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake accelerate from naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) in either 4.6 or 4.7 seconds, or just about the same time required to read its entire name.
Since the non-AMG CLA Shooting Brake (X117) should be launched in the upcoming months, with the 2014 Beijing Auto Show being a distinct possibility, the model depicted in the spy photos bellow should be unveiled in the Fall, at the Paris Motor Show 2014.
