In Brazil, there's a Chevrolet model called the Prisma locally produced by General Motors in Gravatai. It's basically the low-cost version of the Sonic, but it's actually cool in its own way and, more importantly, it's been updated for the 2015 model year and now it comes with lots of goodies for a tiny dribble of money.
Specially developed for developing countries, the Chevrolet Prisma can seat five comfortably and has got a cavernous boot that can swallow a handy 500 liters (17.6 cubic feet) of baggage. That's not bad at all considering the least expensive model costs 41,900 Brazil reais, which translates to just under $18,000 or €13,600. For that small amount of dough you get a brand spanking new and versatile car.

In entry-level LT 1.0 trim, the 2015 Chevy Prisma is propelled by a 1-liter gasoline engine rated at 78 horsepower and coupled to a five-speed stick shift gearbox. As standard, the LT 1.0 comes with goodies such as a chromed grille, a dashboard finished in Jet Black, 14-inch steel rims, air con, rear parking sensors and front power windows. Not spectacular by US standards, but almost complete for Brazil.

Basically, the only mentionable optional extra is the Chevrolet MyLink multimedia system with a 7-inch touchscreen that knows to stream music from your mobile phone via Bluetooth and such. If that 1-liter gasoline engine isn't enough, GM Brazil also offers a 1.4 with 106 ponies. Laugh as much as you want, but a budget car as complete as the Prisma has all the right stuff to become a big seller in South America.
