With 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm), the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is utmost worthy to be called one of the finest all-American supercars currently in production.
Best thing of all though? That mountain of grunt is available at a convenient price - $79,000 for the 2015 Corvette Z06 Coupe 1LZ mated to the Tremec TR-6070 seven-speed manual gearbox.

The most expensive model is the 2015 Corvette Z06 Convertible 3LZ, which starts from $83,000 without any optional extras ticked the list. If you play a little with the configurator, you’ll find that it’s fairly easy to go well past $100,000, so be careful with the kitting.

But have you ever wonder how much of those 650 HP and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) are lost from crank to the rear wheels? The peeps from Hennessey Performance Engineering had the curiosity to find out how much RWHP this bad boy develops with the stick shift, not the optional Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic.

Result? 570 rear-wheel horsepower. It pains us that Hennessey didn’t provide the torque as well, but here’s the thing: there’s a 12.4 percent drop between crank ponies and RWHP, and the crank torque is identical to the horsepower, so our best guess is that rear-wheel torque stands at 570 lb-ft (772 Nm).

The 12.4 percent loss is not as good as the 8-and-something percent loss from crank to rear wheels of the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat in standard tune (707 HP and 650 lb-ft / 881 Nm vs 646 RWHP and 585 RWlb-ft / 794 Nm). But then again, that’s still a lot of oomph and there’s no question regarding which of the two monsters is better on the handling front.
