2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Can Be Yours for $78,995 Including Destination Charges

Since the nameplate debuted in 1953, there hasn't been any other Corvette as powerful as the all-new Z06. Its 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8 engine churns out 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque. Best thing of all? You can enjoy that amount of power for just $78,995 if you go for the coupe or $83,995 if you prefer the convertible Z06.

Harlan Charles, Corvette product and marketing manager, said: “Very few cars in the world deliver 650 horsepower, true aerodynamic downforce, carbon fiber and performance technologies such as Magnetic Ride Control, Performance Traction Management and an electronic limited slip differential – and none gives the driver a transmission choice or the choice of a coupe with a removable roof panel or a full-power-top convertible.” You can enhance the Z06 with two go-faster packs.

Inspired by what the Corvette Racing program uses on race cars, the $2,995 Carbon Fiber Ground Effects pack enables the 2015 Corvette Z06 to produce lots of aerodynamic downforce for increased stability at high speeds. This pack consists of a functional carbon fiber front splitter, carbon fiber rocker panels and a larger rear spoiler. In addition to it, the Z07 Performance Package worth $7,995 adds Brembo carbon ceramic-matrix brake rotors. These improve braking performance and contribute to better handling through reduced unsprung weight. The Z07 pack also adds adjustable front/rear aerodynamic components to the Carbon Fiber Ground Effects pack and sticky Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup rubber.

Compared to the former generation fixed-roof Z06, the all-new model has an aluminum frame structure that's 20 percent stiffer that the one of its predecessor. With Magnetic Selective Ride Control dampers, an electronic limited slip diff and Performance Traction Management offered as standard, the 2015 Corvette Z06 is one of the most ballistic sports cars money can buy these days. And $78,995 isn't that much dough if you take into account that the oomph is comparable with the best of Italy and Germany.

Heck, that sort of grunt harnessed by the optional Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic will give more expensive European exotica a run for its money. It's hard to think of a similarly capable car, the type that's both capable on the track and a pussycat in the urban jungle. Any suggestions?
