Chevrolet is back in the midsize truck market with the 2015 Colorado, a vehicle that pledges to redefine the segment with its full-size truck DNA (read 2014 Silverado). Built to take on the Toyota Tacoma and the Nissan Frontier, and probably an upcoming Ford-badged competitor, the 2015 Colorado was unveiled less than two days ago and introduced at the 2013 Los Angeles Show.
As we’ve already mentioned, Chevy’s new midsize hauler will go on sale next year with two gasoline engines (2.5-liter four-potter and 3.6-liter V6), while the proven Duramax 2.8-liter diesel, which is being used by the global Colorado sold in Brazil or Australia, will be added for the 2016 model year.
Designed and engineered by the same people that created the 2014 Silverado fullsize truck, the Colorado promises to hit market with class-leading payload capacity and fuel economy and a towing capability of more than 6,700 pounds. Chevy has only released estimates so far, but it sounds like the Colorado rip off an important market share from the Toyota Tacoma.
Until further details are revealed, you can have a look at the Z71 model that will be displayed in Los Angeles until December 1.
