BMW is supposed to be a German car company, but the X3 SUV is about as American as Coca Cola. Don't believe us? Just keep reading this article, which will take you through the changes offered for the mid-cycle facelift.
For the 2015 model year, the X3 comes with better double cup holders and glossy black plastic trim. Yes, BMW actually made a big deal out of the cup holders and how this is exactly what customers were asking for.
So what about the outside looks? Well, BMW usually doesn't change anything when it does a facelift, but this time it did. The front end of the Spartanburg SUV has changed quite radically. Gone are the simple, rectangular headlights, replaced by ones that are tapered and connected to the grille. There are likely the same units that will be put on the X4 Sports Activity Coupe when it's ready for production.
Powertrain changes are also being announced. In the US, the X3 gains a diesel option in the form of the xDrive28d costing $42,825. It comes with the same 2-liter diesel as in the X1 and 3 Series and is probably a good buy.
Over in Europe, there are two new diesel engines on offer. The one in the sDrive18d now makes 150 PS and 360 Nm (265 lb-ft) of torque instead of 143 PS, while the one in the xDrive20d will now produce 190 PS instead of the 184 PS offered by the old model.
