BMW has upgraded its R1200R roadster with the liquid-cooled version of the boxer engine, as expected, and now the naked beast delivers the same grunt as its R120)GS and R1200RT siblings. We’re dealing with 125 horsepower at a fairly decently low 7,750 rev mark and a max torque of 124 Nm (92 lb-ft) at a more convenient and useable 6,500 rpm.
Strictly on the engine side, the new R1200R doesn’t bring too much novelty, but the bike is indeed loaded with a heap of electronic features. The 2015 R1200R introduces quite a pleasant array of things for the modern rider, with the stock trim including ABS, Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and two riding modes RAIN and ROAD. A third riding mode Pro is optional and it also sports Dynamic Traction Control, with banking detection and a two extra mappings, Dynamic and User.

BMW has equipped the 2015 R1200R with an inverted adjustable fork and an EVO paralever for the rear suspension. The German manufacturer has also prepared a Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) package as yet another option customers can choose for their new R1200R, with two selectable modes Road and Dynamic. An analogue speedo is complemented by a TFT screen which provides essential riding and bike data for a more reassuring feel aboard this machine.

The 2015 R1200R will be available in three flavors, the BMW press release says: “the basic color in Cordoba blue non-metallic, the “Style 1” variant in Light white non-metallic with frame in Racing red, and the “Style 2” variant in Thunder grey metallic with frame in Agate grey metallic matt.” A full range of accessories will be available. The price is to be announced soon.
