2015 Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Roadster Gets its Global Debut at Pebble Beach

Last month, Aston Martin introduced its fastest and quickest convertible ever with the 2015 V12 Vantage S Roadster, and this exciting new model will get its global debut next week during the festivities for the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The 565-hp roadster will officially be revealed on August 14th at the Aston Martin Estate.

This exciting new model blends Aston Martin’s racing heritage with its fun-to-drive Vantage drop top starting with a 6.0-liter V-12 producing 565 hp (572 PS) and 457 lb-ft of torque (619 Nm). This already-potent engine has been upgraded even further with features like CNC machined combustion chambers and hollow cam shafts. To help the engine breath better, the V12 Vantage S Roadster will have a unique sport-tuned exhaust system.

The V12 Vantage S Roadster also utilizes a new Sportshift III automated manual gearbox that replaces the previous six-speed manual in the V12 Vantage helping to cut curb weight by 44 pounds (about 20 kg) while delivering improved performance. Aston Martin says that the 2015 V12 Vantage S Roadster will be its “most potent and exhilarating roadster yet” with a 0-60 mph time of just 3.9 seconds, but if 60 mph isn’t fast enough, though, the roadster will have a top speed of 201 mph.

In addition to the V12 Vantage S Roadster, Aston Martin will also be revealing the Design Prototype 100 (DP-100) in North America for the first time. The concept for this car was originally dreamt up to be included in the Gran Turismo 6 video game, but the automaker too it a step further to create a real life version of the virtual supercar. This full-scale model was hand crafted based on the car designed for the video game, but it isn’t clear if the car is actually powered by the 800-hp twin-turbo V-12.

Both cars will be joined by the pride of Aston Martin’s race team, the recently introduced Vantage GT4.
