Good news for the fans of big-bore adventure bikes: the new, updated Super Tenere will soon be available on North American ground. The Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere ES is finally making it into the US market, and its base model, the non-ES will join it.

This will only make competition tougher and allow riders to explore more choices, alongside the best-selling BMW R1200GS and its Adventure version, expected soon as well, and the long awaited KTM 1190 Adventure and Adventure R machines. Yamaha USA says that the Super Tenere bikes should reach US dealerships in April this year, with the MSRP being $15,090 (€10,895) and $16,190 (€11690) for the Super Tenere and the ES version respectively.

The ES brings the dawn of the electronically-adjustable suspensions for Yamaha. Riders can cycle through 84 different suspension settings, with different values for compression, rebound and preload, providing the best comfort and ground contact on any type of terrain and regardless of the load. At the same time, both bikes rave received minor revisions in some areas, such as a new multi-function LCD screen, traction control and a new, adjustable windshield.

Both machines come with LED turn signals, and the ES is also equipped with heated grips. A wide range of touring accessories, protection add-ons and luggage systems will also be available at authorized dealers.
With KTM and Yamaha also taking bold steps in the US market, it will be most interesting to see how will BMW’s R1200GS machines fare this year, though we believe that the almost mystical mojo surrounding the Bavarian “Gelande Strasse“ will be hard to be even seriously affected.
