Ram Trucks has announced towing figures for the all-new EcoDiesel V6 1500 pickup, as well as its upgraded V6 gasoline-powered vehicles.
According to the Chrysler brand, the diesel-powered Ram 1500 will have a max towing capacity of 9,200 pounds, only 50 pounds less when compared to the company's 5.7-liter V8 truck. Meanwhile, the gasoline V6 is able to tow up to 7,450 pounds, more than any other V6-powered pickups in the segment.

"There was more towing capacity in the V6 Ram 1500 but we needed to upgrade the transmission to hold the truck and trailer when parked on steep grades," said Mike Cairns - Chief Engineer, Ram Truck. "Now that we're building the transmissions ourselves, the improvements are included in the new assembly."

Fuel economy figures for the EcoDiesel Ram 1500 have yet to be released, but the manufacturer claims it will return at least 25 miles per gallon on the highway.

The EcoDiesel engine can be ordered as a $2,850 option on the new 2014 Ram 1500.
