Even though the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel has yet to arrive in dealerships, Chrysler says it will find it hard to keep up with demand, as its new diesel-powered truck has been received with great enthusiasm in the US.
“Since we announced this, the level of enthusiasm that we have heard from consumers and consumers via our dealers has been almost unprecedented. We did not get this many questions about when, where, how, who, when we launched the all-new 2013 truck. We are launching an all-new engine and the phone is ringing off the hook, basically,” said Dave Sowers, head of Ram Truck, at a Ram event in California.

"We are capped on how many we can build. We estimated very conservatively somewhere around a 10-to-15 percent take-rate to start with. We would potentially be limited by our suppliers' ability to deliver engines and transmissions in significantly greater numbers,” he added.

As a reminder, the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is powered by a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 that delivers 240 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque and can be had as an option for an extra $2,850. The diesel 2014 model is expected to tow up to of 9,200 pounds. In addition, Chrysler claims it could return 27 miles per gallon combined.

Dealers will start taking orders for the new Ram EcoDiesel at the end of the year.
