If we get off our supercar-loving high horse and back the real world, we have to admit that there are people out there who are waiting for their 2014 Nissan Altima sedan with baited breath. One of the features that motivated folks to buy this midsize is the NASA-inspired 'Zero Gravity' seats.
Nissan's latest commercial, yeah, it pretty much take its own joke literally. Giving you, the buyer, an idea of what it's like to feel like you're bottom is floating on a cloud or suspended in space.

Anybody who's ever taken a long trip will attest a good seat can make a world of difference. Introduced on the Altima and just announced for the 2015 Murano, Zero Gravity seats were designed based on posture research from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Nissan says continuous back support from the pelvis to the chest means reduced muscle and spinal fatigue and improve blood flow.

Mix the devilishly cool tech with a couple of young girls, not your typical Altima buyers, and you get a sharp marketing tool that cuts though the murk surrounding Nissan's sedan.

“Designing seats to simulate an occupant in a weightless environment is intended to minimize the muscular loading of the occupant’s back, pelvis, and torso. This is accomplished by developing the seat’s shape and support system to put the occupant’s spine in its natural position,” Jason Harsant, Manager of Seat Engineering at the Nissan Technical Center North America.
