In case you though that crashing and injuries (skipping casualties) are pretty much all that can happen to a MotoGP rider, here’s some updates for the misadventures list: being robbed and having personal things stolen from the very cabin, in the first day at a new track.
It happened to the reigning CRT (now Open Class) champion, Aleix Espargaro, who was surprised to learn that his laptop, iPad and wallet were gone from his very cabin at the Autodromo Termas de Rio Hondo, ahead of the first outing of the third round of the 2014 season.
The young Spaniard sent out a warning using social networks, and several riders shared his post. Colin Edwards warns that all the MotoGP riders and crew should be very careful with their personal things, lock their cabins and have an eye out for suspicious-looking people.
Espargaro says that a lot of Argentinians posted excuses on behalf of their nation, and he is anyway looking forward to the Free Practice sessions, not allowing this unfortunate event to ruin his weekend. After all, a couple of gadgets are not as important as a MotoGP race, and his ID and other papers will be renewed. Plus, the next round is home in Spain, so this makes things a bit easier, somehow.
Hopefully, this robbery and the evil mosquitos issues will be the only things which plague the MotoGP return to Argentina after 15 years.
