2014 Kawasaki Concours 14 Is a Sport-Touring Benchmark
First of all, the 2014 Kawasaki Concours 14 is no bike for beginning riders: 1,352cc of brutal in-line 4 power, derived from the mighty Ninja ZX-14R is not exactly a toy. Tuned to deliver a more touring-worthy, manageable performance, the 2014 Kawasaki Concours 14 also comes with Variable Valve Timing, " improving engine’s flexibility and efficiency by altering camshaft profiles to boost low-end and mid-range without sacrificing top-end power."
With such a strong sporty ancenstry, it was only natural that the new Concours 14 brought the Ram Air system, digital injection, traction control and a second-generation K-ABS with braking force distribution to the street game. An economy assistance mode is also standard, helping riders get more mpg: it works on any gear under 6,000 rpm and with a throttle opening less than 30%.
Add in full instrumentation, 12V 40W accessory outlet, generous storage in the dual color-matched sidecases, a top-drawer aluminium monocoque frame, stepless heated grips and an electrically-adjustable windscreen for a complete touring trim. A plethora of optional accessories are also available, but the base price for the Metallic Spark Black o Candy Cardinal Red 2014 Kawasaki Concours 14 is $16,199 (€12.135).
