In recent years, Hyundai has improved in leaps and bounds, from both a technological and cosmetic point of view. Words like "cool" and "modern" can be used to describe the Veloster or the Genesis Coupe, and they have mass-market premium sedans as well.
But at the bottom end of the model range, things are a bit less impressive. There, the i10 is visibly showing its age and the i20 isn't that much better. A replacement for the smallest of the two is on the way and will probably be revealed at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show. We expect the market debut to follow in early 2014.
But before that, we can show you a little bit of what the i10 might look like, as we're proving you with our interpretation of the upcoming car. The styling will be significantly more grown up and the i10 will also become more spacious.
The second generation i10 will probably be quite a lot lighter as well, seeing as its weight ranges from 925 to 1,040 kilos. Hyundai i working on an all-new 1.0-liter turbo engine with up to 120 hp, which might replace or sit above the current 1.25-liter Kappa unit.
However, we think Hyundai will put their money in infotainment systems, active safety systems like automatic braking and mobile device integration or connectivity.
