2014 Ford Focus Cabrio Looks Good, But Unlikely to Happen

With the previous generation Focus, Ford offered a coupe-cabrio version which really got your attention, but failed to achieve significant traction in the market. As a result, they dropped the idea when the MkIII came out and never looked back.

They're not the only ones struggling to sell hatchbacks as convertibles. Renault has its problems with the Megane CC, and Opel had to completely rethink its strategy and went with a standalone model called the Cascada, even though the Astra Bertone is one of their most famous cars. The problem seems to be shifting a €30,000-or-so without the help of a premium brand name to back it up. People just aren't willing to pay that much for a glorified family car.

Too bad though, because this rendering shows just how cool another Focus Cabrio could be. Soon, the regular Focus will adopt a new front end design a la Aston Martin. We've seen it in our spyshots and we'll see it again soon when the changes go into production, likely in the early part of next year. We took that into account with these renderings and the result is a very nice car which will probably never be made.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
