Back in the early 1970s, the Hemi 426 (7.0-liter) was Chrysler’s star engine and Hemi-powered Chargers and Challengers were the muslecars Ford and General Motors were looking to beat. But no matter how hard they tried, nothing was sexier than a Mopar fitted with a shaker hood.
While the golden years of the 426 Hemi are long gone, with Chrysler’s range-topping “Hemi” unit now being “just” a 5.7-liter V8, the shaker hood was reintroduced to make the 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T more attractive. Besides the exposed cold-air intake system, the R/T Shaker also comes with a Super Track Pak, which includes high-performance steering gear, brake linings and monotube shock absorbers, Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Car tires and three-mode electronic stability control.
Inside, the Shaker is equipped with a flat-bottom leather-wrapped steering wheel, a “K-Black” instrument panel, sports seats wrapped in Napa leather, “Shaker” logos embroidered on the back seats, aluminum pistol-grip shifter with leather-wrapped knob, and many more.
The 2014 Challenger R/T Shaker will arrive in Dodge dealerships in the first quarter of 2014 with pricing starting from $36,995. The Shaker model will become available in six colors: Billet Silver Metallic, Bright White, Pitch Black, Plum Crazy, TorRed and Header Orange.
