Unveiled almost a year ago at the Detroit Auto Show, the 2014 Corvette Stingray has already reached its first US customers. However, the American sportscar needed a few more months to reach Japan, where GM also introduced the 2014 Cadillac CTS earlier this month.
The 2014 Corvette will go on sale in the Land of the Rising Sun next spring and GM Japan hopes to lure in more buyers with the new sportscar, which starts from JPY9,182,000 ($90,000), compared to $51,995 in the United States. Those looking to get their hands on the 2014 Cadillac CTS will have to pay at least JPY5,990,000 ($58,100).
“We have just begun our fight. We offer attractive qualities that you can’t find in Japanese and European cars,” General Motors Japan managing director Sumito Ishii told reporters at the Foreign Correspondents Club in Tokyo.
The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is powered by the brand new 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine that delivers 450 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. The sportscar is able to reach 60 mph from a standing start in 3.8 seconds.
